From 1830 to 1919, the site was the highest point in Belgium (674 m) and marked the border with Germany (of which Waimes was a part at the time), as evidenced by the old B(elgium)-P(Russian) boundary marker 154 in front of the inn. Today, it is the northern gateway to the municipality of Waimes.
Nearby the Inn, built in 1803 on Jalhay territory, there is the Fischbach chapel built in 1831 (on Malmedy territory), 100 m to the south, and the Boultè (on Waimes territory), dating from 1566, 150 m to the southeast.
