An imposing dam
Built on the Warche between 1925 and 1929. A spectacular view of the Warche valley on the downstream side. Height: 54.5 m; length: 182 m; thickness: 38 m at the base - 4 m at the crest (57,000 m3 of masonry)
A huge multi-functional watersurface
Surface: 63 ha; capacity: 7.7 million m3
- flood control for the Warche (and downstream, the Amblève)
- drinking water reservoir for the town of Malmedy
- hydroelectric production, by transporting the water (through a 5.4 km long underground pipeline) to the Bévercé power station, located 154 m below
- leisure activities (canoeing, fishing, diving, swimming)
